Today represented a significant development milestone for Stellar Throne — I've officially reached what feels like an Alpha phase. The fundamental gameplay mechanics are functional, core systems are substantially implemented, and although numerous features remain basic or temporary, the game now has a complete end-to-end structure.

I initiated Phase 7: Polish the Polish and Phase 8: Audio & Advanced Visual Effects, but discovered I'm constrained by resource gaps — particularly regarding sound design and visual assets. Bringing in an Art Director appears necessary to achieve professional-level aesthetics.

A major announcement: I've started transitioning Stellar Throne to Godot. The estimated timeline is approximately one week, with foundational migration, galaxy rendering, and core mechanics already ported. Godot enables several beneficial features:

  • WebGL compatibility for itch.io testing
  • Functional UI editor (versus AI-prompt-based interface building)
  • Simplified asset workflows and animation integration

This accelerated progress reflects AI development advantages. What typically demands months has been accomplished in weeks, creating measurable forward momentum.
